This is the universal tree for those born with the unique mana nature of ice, meaning that the character can use wind and water spells, as always you sacrifice a specialty to gain access to a new element past the one you were born with. Though the wind element in ice is weak to fire it melts in to water, which fire is weak against meaning fire and ice spells have no elemental advantage over each-other, earth spells would be strong against the water element in ice but cannot absorb it when the ice is solid rendering ice immune to the elemental advantage earth would have over it. Ice is able to freeze water giving it an innate elemental advantage over water nature by freezing away the enemy spells. Lightning would normally be able to conduct itself through the water inside ice but cannot do so since the ions inside the water are immobilized from the temperature, meaning the water nature in the ice is ‘protected’ from lightning by the wind nature, which means lightning attacks have no elemental advantage against ice. Lava elemental spells are the ‘hard counter’ to ice as fire is strong against wind and water is weak against earth, having DOUBLE advantage against ice.

Name: Ice born
Description: Due to the user’s natural affinity for the cold they can circulate ice mana through-out the body for a passive resistance to frost and the negative effects of freezing, hypothermia, frostbite and even shock from cold mean nothing to one who has mastered their inborn ability and trained with it. This is to primarily insure that techniques that freeze over sections of the users body or do damage them. This is not merely gathering warmth to the body but rather immunity to cold that comes from ice mana circulating through the users body (only applies to ice the user makes)
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: being born with the ice mana nature (wind and water)
Cost: negligible
Rank: E

Name: Minor freezing spell
Description: An academy level ice technique, typically the first spell taught to ice casters who are found to have the mana nature, by focusing on the hands or feet the user begins to rapidly sap heat from a container of water, causing it to freeze solid. This technique is needed for nearly every ice technique and can be used to create ice from any body of water, more advanced ice casters will often use it as a follow up with the water walking spell to ready an area around them for larger scale ice casting. Though freezing an entire very small lake would take a lot of time and mana freezing a thick layer on the surface would be doable, typically though, especially for lower ranked ice casters this spell is used to freeze much smaller amounts of liquid (such as a hand sized water-gourd or a small puddle). The freezing technique can be used on inorganic solids to make them ice cold, but this takes time and concentration.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Ice born and a small amount water to freeze
Cost: Negligible
Rank: E

Name: Ice breaking technique
Description: A quite simple technique entirely unique to the ice style, do to ice having both a solid structure and a somewhat unstable nature it is quite easy to break the balance of heat within a body of ice and cause it to crack, as ice often does in water. Experts of this technique can employ it with clever timing for extremely effective tactics, such as cracking the surface of a frozen body of water as a pitfall for unsuspecting enemies, or disrupting other ice techniques, this effectively “cancels” many ice spell early if need be, perverting the ice user from having their ice used against them.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: the ice elemental mana nature and ice to use the spell on
Cost: E
Rank: E

Name: Ice reinforcement
Description: By its nature ice can be brittle and fragile in small quantities and as creating very large amounts of ice takes up too much mana, this technique passively reinforces the user’s ice to the level of stone in hardness, allowing icicles to be used as veritable weapons, This is more a sustained effect than an active spell but enhances the durability of the ordinary ice by “mana reinforcing” it (dose not necessarily have to be used on other ice techniques as ice created from them is already mana reinforced) Reinforced ice also takes longer to melt normally but will melt just as fast against things like fire spells.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: ice breaking technique
Cost: E
Rank: D

Name: Ice needles
Description: The base most offensive ice technique, the user molds freezing moisture in to a series of very small, thin but quite sharp, needle shaped icicles which can then be thrown or launched by the user from the hands. These ice needles are solid and sharp enough to pierce enemies but also have the added property of ice, meaning that if a needle were to be stabbed inside a living organism a severe cold would come with it through the victim’s skin. Five to eight needles are fired in a narrow conic formation.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Minor freezing spell, ice reinforcement
Cost: D
Rank: D

Name: Art of ice walking
Description: An important technique for any ice user, by gathering ice mana to their feet the user can move on any frozen surface with absolutely perfect traction, the slippery nature of ice is totally canceled out by this technique giving the user better footing on ice then literally any other surface ordinarily. This differs from the water walking and tree walking spells in that it is a sort of halfway point between the two, the ice the user stands on will not crack or break no mater how thin and the user can even walk or slide up vertical frozen surfaces just as easily. This technique allows a user to walk, run, slide or even skate around on the ice mana underfoot.
Type: Ice elemental spell, also moisture underfoot will innately freeze when passed over by this technique.
Requirements: Minor freezing spell
Cost: E
Rank: D

Name: Ice slick technique
Description: A common technique used in chase scenarios, the user throws an arcane gesture and commands moisture to condense and freeze on a target spot of ground, causing a very thin and especially wet and slippery sheet of ice to form very rapidly. The clear, smooth ice is very difficult to detect, especially while pre-occupied when moving at top speeds. The ice is slippery on its surface but also slippery against the ground its frozen on to by a tiny layer of water, making it almost impossibly slick and virtually guaranteeing anyone who steps on it will instantly lose their footing. When combined with the art of ice walking the user can create an ice slick directly underfoot without fear of slipping.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: minor freezing spell
Cost: E
Rank: D

Name: Touch of frost
Description: An ice spell that uses the sheer cold the element possesses rather then the physical solid itself, the caster gathers ice mana around a hand and grabs on to a target, causing a thin later of ice to spread across the effected area of the surface, this dose not deal physical damage but rather saps a great amount of heat from the target very quickly, this can cause some very minor frostbite but is more likely to numb and slow nerves, causing effected limbs to “freeze up” without actually freezing them solid. This causes minor “burns” from the cold on the skin but is more effective at targeting the forearms to slow physical attacks or the ankles to slow the victims movement speeds, in any case the body will gradually heat back up and restore the slowed body part to normal functioning within a short duration, which takes even less time if the environment is particularly warm or if the victim employs a heat based technique (such as the medical technique to prevent hypothermia) to counter it outright. The normal duration is three rounds of numbness and slowed movement or impaired combat effectives.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Minor freezing spell
Cost: D
Rank: C

Name: Ice daggers
Description: an enhanced version of the ice needles spell, the user forms the icycles as normal but continues to feed them mana till they grow in to sharp, dagger like shapes before throwing or launching them in a cone. The ice daggers are also large and solid enough to be used as melee weapons if desired. An added bonus is that the ice daggers have a freezing property due to the extra ice mana inside them, meaning that if they have a passive “minor freezing spell” effect on them at all times, and will begin to freeze water on contact, making them useful to set up combination attacks by creating ice where they land.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Ice needles
Cost: C
Rank: C

Name: Ice permeation spell
Description: A versatile spell that makes use of the inborn ice nature the caster has in which the caster causes ice to melt and freeze extremely rapidly, allowing the user to walk, swim or pass-through bodies of solid ice without breaking them, this dose not allow the user to have bodies of ice pass through their bodies (like the ice daggers spell) however, only the other way around. It is very effective for ambushes and avoiding damage by jumping inside ice as a shield.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Ice born and art of ice walking
Cost: C
Rank: C

Name: Flash freeze ice bomb
Description: The user rapidly fires out a stream of vapor from their mouth, which under goes a rapid deposition just as it wraps around a target. The effect is instantly freezing the target to any against surface, the most common target being the enemy’s feet to the ground, but this technique can also be used to disarm opponents by pinning their weapon-hand to a wall under ice. More advanced casters can even use this technique to “catch” oncoming projectiles in ice without using their hands.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Ice slick technique
Cost: C
Rank: C

Name: Ice sculpture; igloo shield
Description: Rapidly freezing the air around them the user creates a thin but durable dome of ice large enough for an average person to be able to stand up in if they stood in the exact center but with a shorter ceiling the closer you get to the edge, the shield is roughly igloo like in shape but does not have to have the characteristic windows or entrance if the user does not directly create them. This is the weakest defensive ice technique but it is also much larger in scale the most as it protects from all sides. Another advantage is that the igloo will function as a shelter if the user is in a cold enough area, and as it is made of ice it will blend in to a frozen tundra perfectly, making it useful for longer term stealth missions in areas like the snow kingdom.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements:
Cost: C
Rank: C

Name: Ice gauntlet technique
Description: The user gathers ice mana to the hand to create a hardened ball of ice around their fist, this can be used to parry physical attacks or enhance the power of unarmed strikes, the ice ball weighs down the limb it is used on but it can be used on hands and feet alike, a ice sphere used on feet can also be used to apply a counter weight against knockback from fast impacts or from certain wind spells. This is a mostly defensive technique, it adds to martial arts well but the physical strike is only as hard as the user’s physical strength can muster. The user can however shape the ball of ice depending on the hand’s position while they freeze ice around it, closed fists become simple spheres, flat feet become hemispheres against the floor, while open hands and pointed feet will freeze to a conic column of ice roughly twice the length of the hand or foot.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Ice reinforcement, minor freezing
Cost: D
Rank: C

Name: Ice sculpture; bird migration
Description: The user fires off a number of dagger sized ice crystals which shape themselves in the form of birds, these birds can be directed with their wings to turn and home in on targets in air, shattering and releasing mist that forms instantly in to a decently sized ice crystal upon impact with a target, or upon being blocked or missing the target and hitting another object. What makes this more effective then ice daggers or flash freeze ice bomb is the shear difficulty in avoiding the technique entirely, even if a target manages to avoid all but one they could still be pinned down by the remaining bird freezing them to the ground. Alternatively the user can cast a blanket ice reinforcement spell on the birds to prevent them from shattering and instead cut targets with their wings or pierce targets with their beaks. Each bird is very small, comparable in length to an ice needle and thickness to an ice dagger but the shear number of birds that can be created is far greater, ten to twenty total. The attack is structured in either a flying ‘v’ formation or loose line one to three birds wide but can change formation mid flight. The birds cannot however take off after their initial flight and simply become inert.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Ice daggers, flash freeze ice bomb

Rank: B

Name: Maw of winter
Description: Gathering an impressive amount of ice mana in a hand the user touches a target and violently saps the warmth from it at an astonishing rate, freezing most liquids on contact and chilling flesh to frostbite within a single post of contact, this will also freeze large quantities of water very rapidly, and can be used to effectively freeze a water spell in to ice when breaking the attacking spell as a defensive technique. If the user has ice already on their body, with a technique like ice armor or ice gauntlet, they can channel this spell through that ice instead of a bare hand.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Touch of frost
Cost:
Rank: B

Name: Ice sculpture; great obelisk
Description: A technique, which generates a very large amount of ice in a single, rapidly expanding crystal, the user first creates a small sphere of ice in the hand and either throws it or drives it in to a target location causing it to erupt in to obelisk wide enough for three people to hide behind and over thrice as tall. This semi-transparent, pillar like structure of ice is extremely hard, closer to steel then stone and is often used to block attacks, or avoid damage from all sides by sliding inside the obelisk with ice permeation spell. This spell dose not however “catch” objects inside like the flash freeze ice bomb, but makes up for that by being able to block very large scale attacks. The user can also employ the ice-fracturing spell to drop the weight of the obelisk down on targets to deal crushing damage.
Type: Ice elemental spell
Requirements: Igloo shelter and Flash freeze ice bomb,
